ABOUT
I live on the western hills in Te Awa Kairangi, Lower Hutt and my pottery studio is part of a workshop also housing my sculptor husbands bronze casting foundry.
I have a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Canterbury where I majored in Art History and in 2022 I completed a Level 6 Diploma in Arts and Design majoring in Ceramics at Otago Polytechnic.
My ceramic work is predominantly wheel thrown and tends to favour simple forms and clean lines, with a muted colour palette. I like whoever uses my work to know that it is handmade, so I often leave my throwing lines in the clay and the gaps in the glaze where I held the piece while glazing. I try to use New Zealand clays as much as possible and mix up my own glazes inspired by the flora and fauna around our workshop.
